Our Story...
Our story began in 1949, when Rev. Pedro Martinez established Wilmington Apostolic Assembly Church. In 1952, under his pastorship, the church building was constructed. The dining hall and classrooms were also built in the 1950s. The Ladies Auxiliary worked hard making and selling tamales to help fund this project. The church grew and experienced powerful services, and many were saved. Under his leadership, many ministers from this church were called to serve as ministers and pastors in other parts of the country.
Rev. Pedro Martinez served as Pastor for 27 years, along with his wife, Sis. Cata, until the Lord called him home in 1977. In 1977, Rev. David Trujillo was appointed as Pastor by Bishop Leonardo Sepulveda and served the church until he resigned in June 1979. In July 1979, Rev. Alfred Carrillo was appointed as the new Pastor by Bishop Leonardo Sepulveda. Under his leadership, the Wilmington Apostolic Christian School was established and served the children of our church and community for many years. Pastor Fred, along with his wife Sis. Elva and their children Angela, Aaron, and Anita, faithfully served for 39 years at Apostolic Faith Center. Pastor Carrillo was called home to be with the Lord in December 2018.
On April 7, 2019, Minister Jonathan Garza, from Santa Maria, California, was installed by Bishop Felipe Velasco as the new Pastor of Faith Center. Pastor Garza, along with his wife Sis. Kim and their children Jackson, Olivia, and Maxwell have faithfully served our church and in that time, we have seen many lives changed and families restored.
For over 73 years, Faith Center has been a light in our city and the surrounding communities. Throughout every season God has been our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Our story continues to be written with each miracle we witness, and every life that is transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission will remain the same: love God and serve others.
